How can Experience Labs help your organization?

Karen Hold ignites innovative thinking through labs, bootcamps, sprints, and programs to train trainers.

  • Immersion Labs

Practice specific skills in the design thinking process in standalone 3-hour skills training workshops. Topics include "Design Thinking Crash Course", "Seeing the World Like an Anthropologist", "Immersing Yourself in Your User's World", "Imagining Your Customer's Journey", "Moving from Observations to Insights", "How To Be an Idea Generating Machine", " De-Risking Your Ideas with Assumption Testing", "Prototyping to Test" and "Pitching Your Ideas So Your Audience Cares".

  • Design Thinking Bootcamps

Immerse yourself in 1-3 day design thinking bootcamps. The DT Bootcamp is a mix of short instructional lectures and hands-on activities that teach the tools of design thinking in a systematic and structured format. You will learn how to structure a design challenge, conduct user-based research, distill complex data into actionable insights, brainstorm ideas and concepts, test the assumptions behind your ideas and use storytelling to communicate your idea in a way that makes your audience care. You will walk away with an introduction to an end-to-end design thinking process and tools to help you translate what you learned into methods for driving change in your organization.

  • Design Sprints

Drive more and better impact on projects focused on the core mission of the organization by launching an internal design sprint. Design sprints are 8-12 week facilitated design thinking experiences in which team members apply the principles of Design Thinking to a real problem faced by your organization. We will help make the case for design thinking within your organization, identify the best places to use it, scope out a design challenge, customize a design project design to maximize your needs, provide coaching and facilitation to manage collaboration with your diverse team members and capture and share the outputs of your design thinking work to drive wider engagement in the process.

  • Design Thinking Crash Courses

Create awareness for human-centered mindsets and behaviors with our 3-hour design thinking crash course. This workshop is perfect for people who are new to design thinking and provides an introduction to human-centered design methods in a hands-on experiential format.

Participants learn what it means to do user-centered design, how to start with empathy instead of solutions, how to create a point of view, how to ideate and brainstorm, how to prototype like a wizard, and how to test. Activities build on each other and end with a reflection and debrief.

  • Train the Trainer Programs

Our Train-the-Trainer programs are designed to equip internal catalysts with the specific skills related to their role to drive change and mindset shifts within their organization. Creative conversations are fragile and our work with thousands of innovators has helped us develop a set of tools to help our clients protect these conversations and be guardians of the process. We have found that small amounts of disrespect can shift conversations and stifle possibility thinking. The answer doesn’t lie in keeping people out of conversations but in providing structures to help explore differences in positive and productive ways. Our Train-the-Trainer programs empower catalysts to lead and champion culture change.

  • Design Competitions

Organizations seeking a unique global position in the pressing conversations of their industry can achieve key success with our student design competitions. Our expertise provides organizations with an opportunity to develop creative solutions to grand challenges, engage next-generation talent in new entrepreneurial ventures, showcase the future of the industry to the next generation of leaders and equip next-generation talent with the tools of design thinking to make a positive impact in their sphere of influence.
